HENKE MOTORSPORTS LLC

FOUNDED 2003 ESTABLISHED 2025

Racing has always been more than a hobby—it’s a way of life. Sundays were spent gathered around the TV watching NASCAR, where every family member had a favorite driver and victories were celebrated as if they were their own. That passion for speed and competition became the foundation of Henke Motorsports LLC, a family-run team that has grown from humble beginnings into a multi-generational racing operation.

The team’s official start came in 2003 when John Henke, alongside his father Steve and grandfather John Sr., built their first ice oval sled. That winter, the family entered the racing world together—John piloting stock sleds while his sisters competed in the 120 class. Their dedication paid off quickly, earning the 2006–2007 USSA Team of the Year Award. Just two seasons later, Henke Motorsports was named USSA Family of the Year (2008–2009), and John was voted USSA Rookie of the Year, cementing the team as a rising force in snowmobile ice oval racing.

Over the years, the Henke Motorsports name became synonymous with success. From multiple Eagle River World Championship podiums, including the 2010 Limited 500 World Championship title, to victories at marquee events like the Plymouth Classic, Wausau 525, and Fire on Ice, the team consistently proved itself against the toughest competition. By 2019, Henke Motorsports once again earned USSA Family of the Year honors, a testament to their lasting presence and dedication to the sport.

Racing has also tested the team in ways beyond competition. John suffered a serious injury that sidelined his career and became a turning point for the family. An international decapitation while racing in Canada. Rallying around a new motto #HenkeStrong, the team fought through adversity with the same determination they brought to the track. While recovery limited John’s role as a driver, it opened the door for the next chapter—mentorship, team leadership, and supporting the next generation of racers.

Today, Henke Motorsports continues its dual mission: competing at the highest levels of Pro ice oval racing with Ski-Doo equipment in the winter, while developing young talent on the pavement. The spotlight now shines on Kam Martinez, who has already built an impressive résumé in youth racing—earning Golden Sands Speedway Bandolero Rookie of the Year (2026), multiple GFI championships, and more than 20 career wins across his qaud racing.

From grassroots beginnings to national recognition, Henke Motorsports remains a family-driven operation fueled by grit, resilience, and passion for racing. With Kam carrying the torch into the future, and the team’s sleds still carving ice ovals each winter, Henke Motorsports continues to honor its legacy while writing its next chapter.
